Racing Incident Report
On jumping, NAPA was checked when crowded for room between FLORAL ARTS which shifted out and REUNION which got its head on its side and shifted in away from SPY KING which on jumping was bumped by GANBARIA which began awkwardly and shifted in. GLOBAL LEADER was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, PEACH BLOSSOM was checked and AMBITION steadied when crowded for room between LUMINOUS which shifted in and ZEONIC FRONTIER which was carried out by MR GENKI which in turn was carried out by STRONG GAIN which shifted out abruptly after beginning awkwardly. In the early stages, DANEMAN HILL from the outside barrier raced wide and without cover. At the 800 Metres, AMBITION was crowded for room inside NAPA which shifted in after having initially shifted out and steadied away from the heels of STRONG GAIN. C Soumillon (STRONG GAIN) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 300 Metres he shifted his mount to the outside of SPY KING when not clear of LUMINOUS, causing LUMINOUS to be carried outwards, steady and lose its rightful running and in turn caused inconvenience to DANEMAN HILL which shifted out across the running of GLOBAL LEADER which was checked. In the circumstances of this case, the Stewards believed the appropriate penalty was for C Soumillon's licence to ride in races be suspended until Monday 2 January 2006 (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Happy Valley racemeeting next Wednesday 21 December 2005. In addition, C Soumillon was fined $40,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating one further raceday. Over the final 200 Metres, REUNION hung out and proved difficult to ride. Throughout the race, LUMINOUS raced wide and without cover. REUNION and STRONG GAIN were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported GANBARIA had lost its left hind plate. Also after the race, DANEMAN HILL was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon at the request of the trainer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, DANEMAN HILL will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Following the race, PEACH BLOSSOM was also examined by the Veterinary Surgeon at the request of the trainer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, PEACH BLOSSOM will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
