Racing Incident Report
SPECIAL KING PRAWN was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, PACKING ANGEL was steadied when crowded for room between FIFTY FIFTY and GOODY which was carried out by STAY YOUNG. From a wide gate, GEM OF INDIA on jumping was taken back across behind runners. In the early and middle stages, GOODY proved difficult to settle. Near the 1100 Metres, FOKINE was steadied when crowded for room inside FIFTY FIFTY which at this time got its head up, became unbalanced and shifted in. For some distance after the 1000 Metres, SAN LORENZO raced tight inside SIROCCO (C Munce) which shifted in when not properly clear. C Munce was severely reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. Near the 800 Metres, SPECIAL KING PRAWN got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of STAY YOUNG. In the early part of the Straight, PACKING ANGEL was briefly held up for clear running when behind GOODY and inside GEM OF INDIA. Over the concluding stage, SAN LORENZO shifted out when under pressure. FIGURES was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, FIGURES was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse had bled from both nostrils. JOYFUL WINNER and SAN LORENZO were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the trachea of TCHAIKOVSKY. Before being allowed to race again, TCHAIKOVSKY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Also after the race, the Veterinary Officer said FIFTY FIFTY had sustained a laceration to the right hind heel and GOOD PROFIT had lost its right front plate.
