Racing Incident Report
JUBILOSO was withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (right eye corneal ulcer). Before being allowed to race again, JUBILOSO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When the gates opened, QUICK NEWS put its head down and as a consequence was slow to begin. CARE FREE PRINCE was slow to begin. On jumping, MEDIC LEGION shifted in and bumped RED FORTUNE. After this, MEDIC LEGION became unbalanced, shifted out, made contact with FLASH HARRY and then shifted in again, bumping RED FORTUNE. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, RED FORTUNE gave ground and became detached from the field. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, SPOKESMAN was carried wider by NATIVE LANGUAGE which commenced to shift out, then became unbalanced and bounded in the air when close to the heels of QUICK NEWS. At the 700 Metres, MOONGLOW was carried wider by UNIVERSAL PIONEER which after being crossed by KORSAKOV commenced to over-race and was shifted out away from that horse's heels. At the 600 Metres, QUICK NEWS was hampered and carried wider by FLASH HARRY which shifted out abruptly after getting its head up when being steadied away from the heels of LUCKY TRIO. SPOKESMAN and NATIVE LANGUAGE, which were following, were hampered in consequence. For some distance after the 400 Metres, NATIVE LANGUAGE was held up and unable to improve between QUICK NEWS and SPOKESMAN. Near the 300 Metres, FANTASTIC STAR was steadied when disappointed for running between MEDIC LEGION and CARE FREE PRINCE. Again for some distance after the 200 Metres, FANTASTIC STAR was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of EXHILARATION. At the 200 Metres, EXHILARATION, which was commencing to give ground, was steadied when crowded for room inside FLASH HARRY which had been hanging in, got its head on the side and shifted in away from QUICK NEWS which was initially carried in by SPOKESMAN which shifted ground while hanging. MEDIC LEGION was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. After the race, MEDIC LEGION was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was noted to be making abnormal breathing noise and an endoscopic examination showed it to have an intermittent dorsal displacement of the soft palate. Before being allowed to race again, MEDIC LEGION will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. MOONGLOW was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of MOONGLOW after the race did not show any significant findings. CARE FREE PRINCE and SPOKESMAN were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 10 November 2005)
MOONGLOW, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. Mr A S Cruz, trainer of MOONGLOW, reported that the horse was coughing on returning to the stable after racing last night. Before being allowed to race again, MOONGLOW will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
