Racing Incident Report
KINGIFLY was slow to begin. EXPECTATIONS began awkwardly, then became unbalanced when bumped by BEST LUCK. HIP HIP HOORAY began awkwardly, bumped the outside gate of its stall, then lost further ground when steadied to avoid the heels of THE KING which on jumping shifted in. Making the turn at the 700 Metres, NOBLE CRUSADER was checked severely when crowded for room between FLASHING STAR which got its head on the side and shifted in slightly and KINGIFLY which got its head on the side and hung out making the turn. In the circumstances, no action was taken. When NOBLE CRUSADER checked, THE KING, which was following, was checked in consequence and EVERY TIME was carried wider. Also making the turn at the 700 Metres, CLASSA FOR EVER was crowded for room inside INVERNESS which hung in. At the 600 Metres, THE KING was awkwardly placed close to the heels of NOBLE CRUSADER. In the early part of the Straight, EVERY TIME was held up and unable to improve between KINGIFLY and FLASHING STAR. To obtain running, EVERY TIME was shifted to the outside of FLASHING STAR. CLASSA FOR EVER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, CLASSA FOR EVER, which finished tailed out, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was making an abnormal breathing noise. The performance of CLASSA FOR EVER was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, CLASSA FOR EVER will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. NOBLE CRUSADER, EXPECTATIONS and EVERY TIME were sent for sampling. Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported FLASHING STAR to have blood present at its left nostril. He said an endoscopic examination showed the horse's trachea to be clean, therefore FLASHING STAR was not deemed to have bled.
