Racing Incident Report
BEST LUCK, which was fractious in the stall, was slow to begin. On jumping, EGYPTIAN RA shifted in and bumped HELENE MOMENTUM. GROOM RAIDER began awkwardly, then after being bumped by DIAMOND CENTURY shifted out and made contact with BRAINS TRUST. ZONUS was slow to begin. For a considerable distance after the 1200 Metres, EGYPTIAN RA, which was proving difficult to settle, got its head up. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, CLASSA FOR EVER became unbalanced after bumping the running rail while racing tight inside GROOM RAIDER. Near the 700 Metres, DELIGHTFUL WIN became unbalanced and bumped the running rail. At the 500 Metres, EGYPTIAN RA, which was beginning to improve its position, got its head up when being checked away from the heels of ABLE CHOICE. For a considerable distance after the 400 Metres, CELESTIAL STEEL was held up and unable to obtain clear running. Near the 300 Metres, DELIGHTFUL WIN was steadied away from the heels of GROOM RAIDER when unable to obtain clear running between that horse and BRAINS TRUST which was commencing to give ground. D Whyte (BRAINS TRUST), which performed poorly, reported at no stage of the race was the horse comfortable in the soft track conditions. A Delpech, the rider of HIP HIP HOORAY, which performed poorly, said at no stage of the race did the horse handle today's soft track conditions. BRAINS TRUST and HIP HIP HOORAY were sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. A veterinary inspection of BRAINS TRUST and HIP HIP HOORAY after the race did not show any significant findings. S Dye (CRYSTAL) said the horse's work leading into today's race had been good. He said in the initial stages of the race CRYSTAL travelled satisfactorily, but after being hit by the significant kickback was reluctant to stride out. He said because of this he elected to remain racing wide on the track in the hope the horse would travel better for him. He said at no stage of the race did CRYSTAL travel as he thought it should and after making the turn at the 800 Metres commenced to give ground. He said he pulled the whip prior to straightening, however, CRYSTAL continued to give ground and in his opinion raced very "flat". CRYSTAL was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of CRYSTAL after the race did not show any significant findings. DELIGHTFUL WIN and EGYPTIAN RA were sent for sampling.
