Racing Incident Report
The Stewards deferred the declaration of weighed-in while they considered whether JET RISE had had an unfair start [Rule 12(19)]. After viewing all the available films and considering the evidence submitted by Apprentice C W Wong, the rider of JET RISE, and Mr C H Yip, trainer of the horse, it was established that as the gates opened JET RISE bounded in the air, causing Apprentice Wong to become badly unbalanced, lose the use of his right stirrup and then be dislodged. The Stewards believed JET RISE had not had an unfair start and was therefore deemed to be a runner. Before being allowed to race again, JET RISE will have to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. After this, JET RISE continued on in the race riderless and caused inconvenience to a number of runners. PLEASURE PLEASURE was slow to begin. PEPPERONI, which was standing awkwardly, bumped the inside gate of its stall, then shifted out, brushed the hindquarters of BEAMING RIVER and as a consequence was slow to muster speed. Near the 700 Metres, GOOD TO GREAT became unbalanced when being steadied to avoid the heels of JET RISE. Approaching the turn at the 600 Metres, when JET RISE improved into a narrow opening on his inside, S Dye, the rider of GOLDEN MILE, shifted his mount wider on the track to avoid causing crowding to WINNING ATTORNEY and FLASH MAC. After this, GOLDEN MILE was then shifted back in closer to the fence and behind FLASH MAC. Near the 500 Metres, BEAMING RIVER was reluctant to hold its position outside CLANG'S PRIDE and inside FOREVER CHARMING. At the 400 Metres, PEPPERONI was steadied away from the heels of GOLDEN MILE. At the 200 Metres, FLASH MAC was steadied away from the heels of JET RISE which shifted in. Also at the 200 Metres, PRO JOY was steadied and shifted to the outside of FLASH MAC to obtain clear running and continue going forward. GOLDEN MILE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of GOLDEN MILE after the race did not show any significant findings. WINNING ATTORNEY and GOOD TO GREAT were sent for sampling.
