Racing Incident Report

MR BEAUTIFUL, which was fractious after being boxed, was removed from the stalls. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. THE LAVISH LAD began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of JUST TOO GOOD. FORTUNE WARRIOR was slow to begin. LIVERBIRD began awkwardly and bumped the outside gate of its stall. In the early stages, LIVERBIRD, which was having its first start in blinkers today, proved very difficult to settle, after the 1400 Metres when being steadied to allow DIAMOND ERA to cross got its head up, raced ungenerously, then afterwards continued to race ungenerously and got its head up on a number of occasions when awkwardly placed inside JUST TOO GOOD and after the 1000 Metres was steadied. Near the 1400 Metres, RIGHT CHOICE got its head on the side, shifted in and bumped SPEED OF LIGHT. For some distance after this, RIGHT CHOICE continued to race ungenerously with its head on the side and hung in away from the heels of BULLISH GENERAL. After the 800 Metres, HARRY HARRY was checked when crowded for room between MR BEAUTIFUL and LIVERBIRD which at this time was being steadied away from the heels of JUST TOO GOOD which itself was steadied away from the heels of BULLISH GENERAL which steadied after crossing. After the 400 Metres, HARRY HARRY, which had been held up for clear running, blundered as a result of being crowded for room between MAIN ATTRACTION (Y T Cheng) which shifted out when not properly clear and LIVERBIRD which was shifting in after being bumped on several occasions by SPEED OF LIGHT (W M Lai) which itself shifted in. In the circumstances of this case, the Stewards believed the appropriate action was for Y T Cheng to be severely reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift out and for W M Lai to be reprimanded for having runners on his inside crowded for room. After the 300 Metres, JUST TOO GOOD, which was commencing to give ground, was steadied when crowded for room between BULLISH GENERAL and SPEED OF LIGHT which was carried in by FORTUNE WARRIOR which shifted ground while hanging. FORTUNE WARRIOR continued to hang in for some distance, then near the 100 Metres shifted out and bumped EASY GAME which itself was drifting in. Following the race, D Whyte, the rider of MR BEAUTIFUL, reported the horse was short in its action. MR BEAUTIFUL was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of MR BEAUTIFUL after the race did not show any significant findings. RIGHT CHOICE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of RIGHT CHOICE after the race did not show any significant findings. LIVERBIRD was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. A veterinary inspection of LIVERBIRD after the race did not show any significant findings. EASY GAME and FORTUNE WARRIOR were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon reported BULLISH GENERAL was lame in the right hind leg. Before being allowed to race again, BULLISH GENERAL will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
