Racing Incident Report
As the start was effected, STEPS AHEAD put its head down and turned to the left. As a consequence, the horse was slow to begin. ZABEEL VICTORY was a little slow to begin, then bumped heavily with THUNDER STORM after being carried out by HAR HAR CHARMS. CLASSIC HORSE began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of NATIVE LANGUAGE. From a gate towards the outside, SOUTH CHINA NINETY was immediately taken back behind runners. Near the 1000 Metres, STEPS AHEAD dipped. Making the turn at the 1000 Metres, SOUTH CHINA NINETY got its head on the side, shifted in and bumped ZABEEL VICTORY. As a result, both horses became unbalanced. Near the 900 Metres, ZABEEL VICTORY became unbalanced when being steadied away from the heels of SOUTH CHINA NINETY which at this time shifted in. Near the 100 Metres, CLASSIC HORSE, which was hanging in, was steadied away from the heels of ONLY YOU. Over the concluding stages, SOUTH CHINA NINETY hung out. Throughout the race, ON SHAN EXPRESS raced wide and without cover. S Dye (NATIVE LANGUAGE) was unable to offer any explanation for the poor performance of the horse. He said in the early stages he took NATIVE LANGUAGE back to a rearward position as anticipated, then after the 800 Metres when the horse was not travelling well he hit it with the whip in an endeavour to improve his position. He said he continued to ride NATIVE LANGUAGE along for a considerable distance, however, the horse at no stage responded to his riding. Mr C Fownes, trainer of NATIVE LANGUAGE, was unable to offer any explanation for the horse's performance. He said the horse had trialed well on 8 April 2005 leading into tonight's race and was fancied by the stable. NATIVE LANGUAGE was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. After the race, NATIVE LANGUAGE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said there were no significant findings. The performance of NATIVE LANGUAGE was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, NATIVE LANGUAGE will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. HAR HAR CHARMS and KAO AND MING were sent for sampling.
