Racing Incident Report
SURE FIT was withdrawn on 24.3.05 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (left fore tendon injury). Before being permitted to race again, SURE FIT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. EVERGREEN began awkwardly and bumped the outside gate of its stall. As the gates opened, BEST LUCK put its head down, began awkwardly and lost ground, then in the early stages proved difficult to settle. When the gates opened, KINGSTON WINNER bounded in the air and lost ground, then from the outside gate was steadied and shifted back across behind runners. After the 1000 Metres, BEST LUCK and ABERDEEN were steadied to avoid heels when the pace of the race slackened. Prior to straightening, ABERDEEN blundered when awkwardly placed between BEST LUCK and EVERGREEN which was giving ground and behind AMBITIOUS TYCOON. Near the 600 Metres, KINGSTON WINNER was bumped and carried wider by ABERDEEN. Over the concluding stages, MASTER GIGOLO hung in and near the winning post caused slight inconvenience to THE KING. Throughout the race, ROYAL ARMY hung out. W M Lai (EVERGREEN) said he had been instructed to ride the horse in 2nd or 3rd position if possible and not to face the kickback. He said after beginning awkwardly he was not able to obtain a forward position and he settled towards the rear in the early stages. He said after entering the Back Straight he followed ABERDEEN forward, however, when the pace of the race steadied near the 1000 Metres he elected to shift out and improve around the field in the hope of being able to obtain a position outside GOLCONDA in the lead. He said however as he went forward KING OF WIN and THE KING went forward to race outside GOLCONDA and consequently he was obliged to continue racing wide and without cover and commenced to give ground from the 500 Metres. KING OF WIN was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of KING OF WIN after the race did not show any significant findings. PRETTY TRIO, MASTER GIGOLO and THE KING were sent for sampling. After the race, an endoscopic examination was performed on PRETTY TRIO at the request of Mr A Lee, the horse's trainer. The Veterinary Officer reported this examination showed a significant amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, PRETTY TRIO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
