Racing Incident Report
After arriving at the saddling stalls, it was noted the left front plate of FLYING BISHOP had shifted. The horse was re-plated and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said it was suitable to race. FIVE GRAINS was slow to begin and then lost further ground after coming into contact with SURVEYOR. DELIGHTFUL WIN, FLYING BISHOP and KING HESPERUS were slow to begin. In the early stages, SURVEYOR, which was to be ridden in a forward position today, hung in. Near the 1000 Metres, KIDDYLAND was checked to avoid the heels of KING HESPERUS which itself was steadied away from the heels of FANTASY. In the middle stages, NORTHERN GOLD BALL hung out and near the 600 Metres was steadied away from the heels of LEILATI. Making the Home Turn, CLASSIC DELIGHT hung out. In the early part of the Straight, SPARKLING STAR hung in and caused some crowding to AMBITIOUS TYCOON. After the 400 Metres, FIVE GRAINS was steadied to shift to the outside of LEILATI into clear running. For some distance approaching the 200 Metres, KING HESPERUS was held up and unable to improve between FANTASY and DELIGHTFUL WIN. Over about the final 200 Metres, AMBITIOUS TYCOON hung out, on a number of occasions shifted ground and proved very difficult to ride. Near the 100 Metres, when AMBITIOUS TYCOON shifted out, some inconvenience was caused to DELIGHTFUL WIN and SPARKLING STAR. Over the concluding stages, NILOMETER got its head on the side and shifted out. Throughout the race, SPARKLING STAR, which was ridden in a forward position today and stepping back up to 1600 Metres, was caught wide and without cover and then in the Straight gave ground. NILOMETER and FIVE GRAINS were sent for sampling.
