Racing Incident Report

When the gates opened, LIBERAL'S CHOICE bounded in the air, began awkwardly and lost ground. CYPRESS HILL, which had been intended to be ridden in a forward position, began awkwardly, shifted out, bumped LIBERAL'S CHOICE, got its head up and consequently lost ground. DASHING WINNER began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped GIFT. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, CHALLENGER, which was proving difficult to settle, got its head up. Also approaching the winning post on the first occasion, LIBERAL'S CHOICE commenced to pull, raced close to the heels of COME SEE YOU and HEALTHY WEALTHY, was then shifted out to a three wide position and allowed to stride forward. Near the 1000 Metres, DASHING WINNER got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of CYPRESS HILL. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, COME SEE YOU lay in and bumped the running rail. Near the 400 Metres, BEST GIFT, which was improving its position, was carried wider by FIVE DYNASTIES which at this time shifted out. Throughout the race, GIFT raced wide and without cover. GIFT was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of GIFT after the race did not show any significant findings. BEST GIFT, HEALTHY WEALTHY and DASHING CHAMPION were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 3 March 2005)
GIFT, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. GIFT was again examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer P F Yiu this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to have a sprained right front fetlock joint and significant muscular back pain Before being allowed to race again, GIFT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
