Racing Incident Report
After arriving at the barrier, it was noted FAMOUS DANCER had a small amount of blood present in its mouth. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said this blood originated from a small abrasion and the horse was suitable to race. From a gate towards the outside, FRUITY FRUITY was taken back from the start, shifted across behind runners to a position on the rail and then hard ridden to make up ground. After the 1300 Metres, SUCCESSIVE GAINS was bumped by CHEEKY which shifted out after being steadied away from the heels of FIGHTING MASCOT. At the 1000 Metres, KING OF FISH got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of GOLCONDA. Throughout the race, CELESTIAL STEEL raced wide and without cover, making the turn at the 600 Metres shifted in, causing SUCCESSIVE GAINS to be carried in which in turn caused crowding on its inside to CHEEKY. Making the turn after the 600 Metre, CELESTIAL STEEL hung in and caused some crowding on its inside to SUCCESSIVE GAINS. Approaching the 200 Metres, FAMOUS DANCER was shifted in to obtain clear running. After the 200 Metres, PRINCE GOLF was bumped by FIGHTING MASCOT which was crowded for room outside MONEY STRONG which was carried wider by GOLCONDA which in turn was carried out by KING OF FISH. Also after the 200 Metres, SUCCESSIVE GAINS was momentarily steadied away from the heels of CHEEKY which was shifting out to obtain clear running. E Saint-Martin (PACKING ANGEL) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 150 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of FIGHTING MASCOT which as a result struck the heels of PACKING ANGEL, blundered and almost fell. E Saint-Martin was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Sunday 6 March 2005 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong race days). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting next Sunday 27 February 2005. In addition, E Saint-Martin was fined $30,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating 1 further raceday. After the 100 Metres, FRUITY FRUITY was shifted out away from the heels of GOLCONDA which was giving ground. Over the concluding stages, MONEY STRONG hung in. Just prior to the winning post, FAMOUS DANCER was shifted out away from the heels of KING OF FISH. SUCCESSIVE GAINS and FIGHTING MASCOT were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SUCCESSIVE GAINS and FIGHTING MASCOT after the race did not show any significant findings. FAMOUS DANCER, PACKING ANGEL and KING OF FISH were sent for sampling.
