Racing Incident Report
On jumping STRIKE TO WIN and WINNING POWER bumped. EASTKOWLOON SPIRIT and THOUSAND WINS were slow to begin. When the gates opened, FAST TRACK shifted in abruptly and bumped SUMMERVILLE POWER. Near the 1200 Metres, FAST TRACK and SUPER CHARGE were checked when crowded for room inside STRIKE TO WIN (Apprentice K H Chan) which shifted in when not clear. Having considered Apprentice Chan's inexperience, the Stewards believed it was appropriate to severely reprimand him and tell him to exercise more care. Near the 900 Metres, when proving difficult to settle, HARVEY MUDD blundered as a result of clipping the heels of PEARL OF INDIA which at this time was being slightly steadied to allow LASER GLORY to cross. SHARKI and LUCKY MARAUDING, which were following HARVEY MUDD, were checked severely in consequence and some inconvenience was caused to SILVERBIRD. In the circumstances, the Stewards did not believe it was appropriate to take action. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, DANSKE VERY MUCH got its head up when hanging, shifted out and bumped STRIKE TO WIN. As a result of this, STRIKE TO WIN shifted out when not clear of LASER GLORY which as a result was checked to avoid its heels. PEARL OF INDIA, which was following, was checked to avoid the heels of LASER GLORY. Some inconvenience was also caused to HARVEY MUDD. No action was taken. After this incident, PEARL OF INDIA raced wide and without cover. In the early part of the Straight, SUMMERVILLE POWER was awkwardly placed behind FAST TRACK which was giving ground. After the 300 Metres, THOUSAND WINS, which was beginning to close the race off, was checked to avoid the heels of STRIKE TO WIN which was giving ground. Near the 200 Metres, THOUSAND WINS and STRIKE TO WIN were steadied when crowded for room between LASER GLORY which shifted in and SUMMERVILLE POWER which at this time got its head on the side, commenced to hang out and shifted ground. No action was taken. SUMMERVILLE POWER continued to hang out in the run to the line and proved difficult to ride. Throughout the race, DANSKE VERY MUCH hung out. DANSKE VERY MUCH was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of DANSKE VERY MUCH after the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of DANSKE VERY MUCH was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, DANSKE VERY MUCH will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial around a bend. FAST TRACK, which tailed out, was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, FAST TRACK was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was showing an irregular heart rhythm. Before being allowed to race again, FAST TRACK will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. LUCKY MARAUDING and WINNING POWER were sent for sampling.
