Racing Incident Report
SUPER KING was withdrawn on 19.11.04 on veterinary grounds (fever) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter GREEN WARRIOR. Before being allowed to race again, SUPER KING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. HAPPY CRUSADER began awkwardly. On jumping, GAUCHO was bumped by FORTE which shifted in. Also on jumping, LITTLE ELEPHANT and JOLLY GOOD FORTUNE bumped. GREAT WIN began awkwardly. MOVE IT was slow to begin. Throughout the race, FORTE hung in badly. Apprentice P H Lo, the rider of FORTE, reported his saddle shifted back near the 500 Metres. At the 400 Metres, ABSOLUTE CHAMPION was steadied and shifted in away from the heels of GAUCHO. Shortly after this, ABSOLUTE CHAMPION was again steadied and shifted in when disappointed for running between FLASHING STAR and GAUCHO which at this time was carried in by FORTE which was hanging in. Over the concluding stages, ABSOLUTE CHAMPION shifted in abruptly, prior to the line ducked in when hit with the whip, causing R Fradd, its rider, to become unbalanced. When questioned, F Coetzee (COUNTRY MUSIC), first placegetter, said after the 100 Metres his mount had sprinted quickly and in his opinion opened up a winning break on the field. He said near the 50 Metres he momentarily stopped riding as he was of the opinion he had the race comfortably won. He said shortly afterwards he became aware ABSOLUTE CHAMPION was closing off strongly, so he again resumed riding. F Coetzee was told that as he had won the race, no action would be taken, however, his riding during this section of the race could not be condoned and if the result of the race had been different, he might have found himself charged with a serious breach of the rules. GREAT WIN was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. A veterinary inspection of GREAT WIN after the race did not show any significant findings. COUNTRY MUSIC and ABSOLUTE CHAMPION were sent for sampling.
