Racing Incident Report

COOL SWING and CITY GLORY began awkwardly, got their heads up and lost ground. SUPER LUCK was slow to begin. SURE FORTUNE was slow to begin and shortly afterwards was steadied when crowded for room between FOUR ACES and DON FELIPE which shifted in. CHAMP DE UNION began awkwardly, causing A Delpech, its rider, to become unbalanced. Near the 400 Metres, VITAL PATROL came together with FOUR ACES which at this time got its head on the side and hung in. After the 200 Metres, CITY GLORY, which was beginning to close the race off strongly, shifted to the outside of DOUCAI which was hanging in to continue going forward. For the major part of the race, VITAL PATROL hung out. STRAIGHT SHOOTER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, STRAIGHT SHOOTER was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said he noted the horse to have blood present at its left nostril. However, an endoscopic examination showed the horse's trachea to be clean. Therefore STRAIGHT SHOOTER was not deemed to have bled. Before being allowed to race again, STRAIGHT SHOOTER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. TCHAIKOVSKY, GOLDEN FARM and SURE FORTUNE were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that COOL SWING had bled from both nostrils.
