Racing Incident Report

After arriving at the Start, it was noted HIMALAYA had shifted its right fore plate. This plate was reset. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. HIMALAYA was slow to begin. RUSSIAN PEARL began awkwardly, bounded in the air and got its head up. MAGNIFIER began awkwardly. Passing the 500 Metres, WEALTHY TREASURE became unbalanced when briefly crowded inside HEALTHY WEALTHY which shifted in slightly. In this incident, WEALTHY TREASURE shifted out, resulting in NOBLE SILENCE being taken out onto the hindquarters of RUSSIAN PEARL, both of which became unbalanced. After making the Home Turn, HIMALAYA shifted out and bumped MAGNIFIER. Near the 200 Metres, RUSSIAN PEARL hung in. Near the 100 Metres, NOBLE SILENCE was checked when crowded for room between LUCKSWELL (R Fradd) which shifted out and WEALTHY TREASURE (A Starke) which shifted in away from HEALTHY WEALTHY. The Stewards believed in the circumstances it was inappropriate to proceed with a charge against any one rider as they were of the opinion the shift from both horses contributed to this incident. Nevertheless R Fradd and A Starke were advised to exercise more care. After passing the winning post, MAGIC HANDS shifted out abruptly, resulting in G Schofield, its rider, being dislodged. MAGIC HANDS was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, MAGIC HANDS was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was lame in the right hind leg. Before being allowed to race again, MAGIC HANDS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. RUSSIAN PEARL, DYNAMIC FUN and HEALTHY WEALTHY were sent for sampling. An inquiry into the reason for RED PEPPER being checked after passing the winning post on the first occasion was adjourned to a date to be fixed.
