Racing Incident Report

OLYMPIC EXPRESS began awkwardly and shortly afterwards was checked when crowded for room between THE DUKE and CELESTIAL MAGIC, both of which shifted ground. KEY TO SUCCESS began awkwardly and shifted out. PRIME WITNESS began awkwardly. ABLE PRINCE and PLANET RULER were slow to begin. After the 300 Metres, FIREBOLT was struck under the jaw by the whip of A Marcus (ABLE PRINCE). For some distance after this, ABLE PRINCE and FIREBOLT raced tight due to ABLE PRINCE laying in. Near the 200 Metres, the right hand of A Marcus in which he was carrying his whip came into contact with the shadow roll worn by FIREBOLT. A Marcus was told that he must wherever possible ensure that no part of his body comes into contact with any other horse or rider. Approaching the 200 Metres, ANABATIK hung in. After the 200 Metres, OLYMPIC EXPRESS was steadied away from the heels of ANABATIK which at this time shifted out. Over the final 200 Metres, KEY TO SUCCESS hung in and near the 100 Metres B Prebble, its rider, stopped riding and shifted it out away from the heels of GRAND DELIGHT. Near the 100 Metres, ANABATIK, which was giving ground, was steadied when momentarily crowded for room between CELESTIAL MAGIC and THE DUKE. OLYMPIC EXPRESS and MULTIDANDY were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of OLYMPIC EXPRESS and MULTIDANDY after the race did not show any significant findings. SCINTILLATION and PLANET RULER were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 11 October 2004)
CELESTIAL MAGIC was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer D A Hayes yesterday morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in the left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, CELESTIAL MAGIC will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
