Racing Incident Report

HEALTHY FRUITS, Standby Declared Starter, was withdrawn on 10.9.04 on veterinary grounds (lame right fore). Before being allowed to race again, HEALTHY FRUITS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. TOY QUEST, which was standing with its head turned to the left, was slow to begin. CORNWALL CHIEFS was a little slow to begin. In the early stages, NORTHERNER proved difficult to settle. For some distance approaching and passing the 1000 Metres, SANBENITO and NORTHERNER raced tight inside DANEHILL WARRIOR. Then making the turn at the 800 Metres, SANBENITO was crowded for room inside NORTHERNER which was carried in slightly further by DANEHILL WARRIOR which at this time got its head on the side and momentarily shifted ground. No action was taken. In the early part of the Straight, MONEY STRONG hung in. For a considerable distance approaching the 200 Metres, TOY QUEST, which was beginning to close the race off, was steadied when unable to obtain clear running between SANBENITO which had shifted to the outside of BUDDIES POWER and SENSIBLE WAY which was giving ground. For a considerable distance after the 200 Metres, CORNWALL CHIEFS had difficulty obtaining clear running between STRONG SUN and DETERMINATION which was drifting out slightly. Near the 100 Metres, CORNWALL CHIEFS was shifted to the inside of DETERMINATION to obtain clear running. NORTHERNER was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, NORTHERNER was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said there were no significant findings. DETERMINATION and SANBENITO were sent for sampling.
