Racing Incident Report

NOBLE ZOOM began awkwardly and shortly after the start was steadied away from the heels of MEMBERS GLORY which was carried out by HARVEY MUDD. In the early stages, BARFOLD HERO and NOBLE ZOOM proved very difficult to settle. Making the turn after the 800 Metres, PORTER RICKS hung out. As a consequence of this, SIR HUMOR was carried wider. In the early part of the Straight, HIP HIP HOORAY hung in. In the Straight, SIR HUMOR hung in when giving ground. Y T Cheng (SUPER MARKSMAN) explained he had been instructed to ride the horse midfield or behind and to make his run down the outside in the Home Straight. He said after beginning well he immediately steadied SUPER MARKSMAN to shift to the fence, he then allowed the horse to settle and did not ride it along to maintain a more forward position because of the instructions he had been issued. He said after the 800 Metres he gradually allowed SUPER MARKSMAN to improve behind KINGSTON GLORY, but as a consequence of doing so he was unable to shift to the outside to make his home run, he therefore maintained the position close to the rail in the Home Straight. He said the horse did close the race off nicely today. SIR HUMOR was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, SIR HUMOR was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was making an abnormal breathing noise. An endoscopic examination showed the horse to be an early "roarer". NORTHERN ROSE and HARVEY MUDD were sent for sampling.
