Racing Incident Report
Shortly after the start, SALUZI was bumped by LIGHT FOOT which shifted out after being bumped by MOUNTAIN KING. Near the 1400 Metres, LIGHT FOOT, which was over-racing, was steadied away from the heels of MEMBERS GLORY. Making the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight, VENETIAN MASTER was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SHENANEGAN and unable to improve. At the 500 Metres, MEMBERS GLORY was crowded for room between ALAKAZAM and VENETIAN MASTER which was shifting out. Near the 200 Metres, R Fradd (DON SEBASTIAN) momentarily dropped his right rein. BOUNTIFUL was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. SHENANEGAN was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. A veterinary examination of BOUNTIFUL and SHENANEGAN after the race did not show any significant findings. NATURAL ECHO and CORNWALL CHIEFS were sent for sampling. After the race, MOUNTAIN KING was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was lame in the right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, MOUNTAIN KING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Omission from Racing Incidents Report (released on 29 April 2004)
At the 1400 Metres, BOUNTIFUL was carried wider by TREASURE FIELD (Apprentice P H Lo) which shifted to a position towards the outside of SALUZI. Shortly after this, BOUNTIFUL was ridden along to go forward to shift across back into a two wide position. On several occasions after the 700 Metres until after straightening, BOUNTIFUL was hampered and bumped as TREASURE FIELD attempted to shift to the outside of SALUZI into clear running which at this time was not available to it. Apprentice P H Lo was severely reprimanded and told whilst the Stewards appreciate competitive riding, on this occasion his riding bordered on overdoing it and was close to placing him in breach of a serious rule.
