Racing Incident Report
TOY QUEST was slow to begin. On jumping, SALUT BEAUTE shifted in and bumped FORTE. Also on jumping, DEVON ELITE was bumped by DON FELIPE which was carried out by LIGHTNING BOLT. DOUBLE DIP was a little slow to begin, was then hard ridden to go forward, however, was unable to cross runners to its inside and consequently raced three wide and without cover outside the lead, then on straightening gave ground and finished tailed out. DOUBLE DIP was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. A veterinary examination of DOUBLE DIP after the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of DOUBLE DIP, a last start winner, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, DOUBLE DIP will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. In the middle stages, FORTE hung out, then in the Straight when under pressure hung in. Also in the middle stages, BILLET EXPRESS hung out. Near the 300 Metres, WINNING CAT was disappointed for running inside BILLET EXPRESS and because of this was steadied and shifted towards the outside of that horse. When questioned, R Fradd (SALUT BEAUTE) said he had been instructed to have the horse in 3rd or 4th position. He said the horse was restless after being boxed, he called to the Starter on a number of occasions and when the gates opened SALUT BEAUTE began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped FORTE. He said because of this he had to re-balance SALUT BEAUTE and whilst this was happening, FORTE was being hard ridden to improve on his inside. He said whilst he might be at this stage in front of FORTE, the manner in which that horse was ridden would prevent him if he rode along from clearing it and being able to shift in to obtain a position close to the rail. He said therefore he elected to steady SALUT BEAUTE, allow FORTE to proceed further on his inside and then he shifted SALUT BEAUTE across to a position close to the rail but further back than intended. R Fradd was told his explanation would be recorded. When questioned, J Holder (ASIA RISING) said the horse raced in a rearward position as expected. He said after straightening he commenced to ride the horse along with the whip in an attempt to improve into clear running which was available to him on the inside of GREEN TREASURE and outside SALUT BEAUTE. He said ASIA RISING at this time did not quicken as he had hoped and when SALUT BEAUTE shifted out near the 350 Metres the run which had been available in front of him closed and he formed the opinion that SALUT BEAUTE might continue shifting wider, causing GREEN TREASURE in turn to be carried out. He said he therefore decided bearing in mind the manner in which ASIA RISING was travelling to change course to the inside of SALUT BEAUTE in the hope of obtaining clear running. He said near the 200 Metres he shifted to the inside of TOY QUEST into clear running, at this time when placed under pressure ASIA RISING responded strongly to his riding and finished the race off nicely. J Holder was severely reprimanded and told his riding in the early part of the Straight had come under notice and he should at all times endeavour to position his horses so as to take the best option available to him and to ensure uninterrupted running. BILLET EXPRESS and WINNING CAT were sent for sampling.
