Racing Incident Report
FERRULE was slow to begin. When the gates opened, MULTIDANDY bounded in the air. Near the 800 Metres, MULTIDANDY, which was proving difficult to settle and racing inside FIGURES, shifted in and bumped FIREBOLT. After this incident, MULTIDANDY raced in restricted room for some distance and was bumped on a number of occasions as FIREBOLT endeavoured to obtain and hold a position behind SILENT WITNESS. Both D Whyte and A Marcus were told whilst the Stewards encourage competitive riding, they have to be mindful as to how far they can take such matters. Near the 400 Metres, FIGURES became unbalanced and dipped. Near the 200 Metres, MERIDIAN STAR was checked to avoid the heels of SUPER BROSE which was giving ground. F Coetzee (SILENT WITNESS) was fined $2,000 for making a celebratory gesture prior to the winning post. SILENT WITNESS and CAPE OF GOOD HOPE were sent for sampling. After the race, SUPER BROSE was noted to have blood in the right nostril. An endoscopic examination showed the horse's trachea to be clean and therefore not an official bleeder.
