Racing Incident Report
LIGHTING THE WORLD began awkwardly, bumped the inside gate of its stall, then shifted further and made contact with the hindquarters of A BETTER DRAGON, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced. As a result of this incident, LIGHTING THE WORLD got well back in the initial stages, then rounding the first turn was ridden along around the field to go up and race outside the leader. NEW CENTURY was slow to begin. On jumping, HIGHLIGHT was crowded for room between AMICABLE and WINNING ASSOCIATES, both of which shifted ground. Shortly after the start, AMICABLE, HIGHLIGHT and WINNING ASSOCIATES were steadied when crowded for room between MONEY EXPRESS which shifted in and GUSCOTT which shifted out after being bumped by WATCH KING. In this incident, MONEY EXPRESS became unbalanced behind as a result of making contact with WINNING ASSOCIATES. Near the winning post on the first occasion, EL VIENTO got its head up while being steadied when crowded for room between NEW CENTURY which was improving on its inside and AMICABLE (A Delpech) which shifted in when not properly clear. A Delpech was advised to exercise more care. Shortly after this, EL VIENTO was again crowded for room by HIGHLIGHT which momentarily shifted in. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, HIGHLIGHT got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of GUSCOTT. After passing the winning post on the first occasion, PEARL AND GOLD was steadied away from LIGHTING THE WORLD which shifted out to improve. Near the 1300 Metres, AMICABLE became badly unbalanced when crowded for room inside A BETTER DRAGON which got its head on the side and shifted in abruptly for a short distance. As a result of the interference to AMICABLE, inconvenience was caused to GUSCOTT and MONEY EXPRESS which was racing inside that horse. In the circumstances, no action was taken. After the 700 Metres, HIGHLIGHT, which was endeavouring to improve, was steadied when disappointed for running between WINNING ASSOCIATES and GUSCOTT which shifted in while improving to the inside of PREMIER BURG which itself shifted in. No action was taken. After the 600 Metres, EL VIENTO got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of NEW CENTURY. On straightening, EL VIENTO was checked away from the heels of AMICABLE and shifted in abruptly to obtain clear running. For some distance after the 200 Metres, HIGHLIGHT was steadied when disappointed for running between GUSCOTT which when giving ground shifted in and PEARL AND GOLD which shifted out. Over the final 200 Metres, LIGHTING THE WORLD hung in and proved difficult to ride. For the major part of the race, PREMIER BURG was obliged to race wide and without cover. D Whyte (MONEY EXPRESS) said it had been the intention to ride the horse a little quieter tonight than at its most recent start as on that occasion from a favourable gate when ridden further forward, MONEY EXPRESS failed to finish off. He said tonight when being ridden quietly, MONEY EXPRESS was a victim of circumstances which meant it raced wide throughout the race and consequently again did not finish off. MONEY EXPRESS was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of MONEY EXPRESS after the race did not show any significant findings. WATCH KING and WINNING ASSOCIATES were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported A BETTER DRAGON had lost its left hind plate.
