Racing Incident Report
PLANET RULER was a little slow to begin, then shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of FIREBOLT. Near the 600 Metres, PLANET RULER was awkwardly placed inside the heels of PRIME WITNESS. When under pressure over the final 400 Metres, CELESTIAL MAGIC got its head on the side and was inclined to shift out. D Whyte (CAPE OF GOOD HOPE) explained on leaving the barrier his left stirrup brushed the outside gate of the stall and this caused his foot to move in the stirrup. He said near the 500 Metres when commencing to improve his position, he tried to correct this by taking the pressure off his foot so the iron would shift back, however, when he did this, his foot slipped from the iron, causing him to become unbalanced for a short distance. CENTURY STAR was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, it was reported that CENTURY STAR had bled from both nostrils. SILENT WITNESS and FIREBOLT were sent for sampling.
