Racing Incident Report
On jumping, METRO FLYER, which was to be ridden in a rearward position from its wide gate today, put its head down. BETTER BOY was slow to begin. WINNING PARADE was a little slow to begin and shortly afterwards was steadied away from the heels of MAGNIFICENT which was carried out by PRESENT TREASURE which began awkwardly with its head up. GOOD BOY began awkwardly and got its head up. Shortly after the start, MAJIN BUU was crowded for room between HARRY HARRY which was taken out slightly by MAGNIFICENT and DRAGON WIN which shifted in when barely clear. When MAJIN BUU was steadied and shifted out as a result, GOOD BOY was steadied away from its heels. In the early and middle stages, PRESENT TREASURE proved very difficult to settle and at the 800 Metres was shifted to the outside of the field. Near the 600 Metres, ELETTARIN was awkwardly placed close to the heels of MAGNIFICENT. After the 400 Metres, DRAGON WIN was bumped by ELETTARIN which was shifting to the outside of MAGNIFICENT to obtain clear running. Near the 300 Metres, WINNING PARADE was checked when crowded for room between PRESENT TREASURE which shifted in slightly and BETTER BOY (F Coetzee) which shifted out when not clear. As the Stewards were satisfied there had been a contribution to this incident from PRESENT TREASURE, it was decided the appropriate action was for F Coetzee to be severely reprimanded. Near the 200 Metres, ELETTARIN was checked when hanging in onto the heels of MAGNIFICENT which shifted out slightly. No action was taken. Some inconvenience was caused to DRAGON WIN which was following. Over the concluding stages, MAGNIFICENT and ATHLETIC GOLD hung out. In the Straight, HARRY HARRY hung in and proved difficult to ride. ATHLETIC GOLD and BETTER BOY were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported that VILLAGER had bled from both nostrils.
