Racing Incident Report

UNIVERSAL CHARGER was slow to begin and shortly afterwards was steadied away from the heels of CHATER LANE which shifted in. DEEP PURPLE was slow to begin. Near the 2000 Metres, DEEP PURPLE was momentarily steadied away from the heels of HAPPY CONTENDER which shifted in when only just clear. In the early stages, HAPPY CONTENDER proved difficult to settle. Running along the Back Straight, CHATER LANE hung in. Throughout the race, CLAWS OF THUNDER raced wide and without cover and commenced to give ground after the 800 Metres. Near the 600 Metres, MILLENNIUM SPIRIT was shifted out to avoid the heels of CLAWS OF THUNDER. Then after the 600 Metres, SEASONS TREASURE was also shifted out to avoid the heels of CLAWS OF THUNDER. After the 600 Metres, RICARDO was crowded for room by DEEP PURPLE which shifted to the inside of the heels of HAPPY CONTENDER where there was insufficient room. Shortly after this, DEEP PURPLE was checked when disappointed for running. Shortly after straightening, DEEP PURPLE was shifted to the inside of the heels of RICARDO which was shifting out to find clear running. Also shortly after straightening, DIAMOND MOON was checked and HAPPY CONTENDER crowded for room between THE PIONEER which shifted out and MILLENNIUM SPIRIT which shifted in. In the circumstances, no action was taken. For a considerable distance after this, DIAMOND MOON was held up and unable to obtain clear running behind THE PIONEER and inside HAPPY CONTENDER. For some distance approaching and passing the 200 Metres, CHATER LANE was held up and unable to obtain clear running on the inside of THE PIONEER. Over the concluding stages, CHATER LANE was again unable to obtain clear running between THE PIONEER and HAPPY CONTENDER and because of this was not ridden to the line as it normally would be. FLORAL DANCER was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of FLORAL DANCER after the race did not show any significant findings. CHATER LANE, RICARDO and MILLENNIUM SPIRIT were sent for sampling.
