Racing Incident Report

R Fradd (DYNAMIC COMBO) was fined $4,000 for initially weighing out when not wearing a body protector [Rule 94(3)]. When the gates opened, PROFIT DAY reared, causing W M Lai, its rider, to become badly unbalanced. Consequently PROFIT DAY lost a significant amount of ground at the start. As the gates opened, MONEY STRONG became fractious, reared and lost ground at the start. STAMINA began awkwardly and shifted in abruptly. SMART CHAMPION began awkwardly and bumped the outside gate of its stall. DYNAMIC COMBO was slow to begin. In the early stages, SING A SONG and STAMINA proved difficult to settle. In the early and middle stages, RED BARON raced wide and without cover. Near the 1000 Metres, SMART CHAMPION was steadied when momentarily crowded for room by SOUTH CHINA NINETY. Near the 800 Metres, SMART CHAMPION was checked when crowded for room inside SOUTH CHINA NINETY which got its head on the side and shifted in away from the heels of BRAVE COMMANDER. Making the Home Turn, PROFIT DAY hung out. In the early part of the Straight, MONEY STRONG was held up and unable to obtain clear running behind SMART CHAMPION which itself was experiencing some difficulty obtaining clear running. After the 400 Metres, MONEY STRONG was steadied and shifted to the inside of SMART CHAMPION to go forward. Over the concluding stages, GOODWOOD shifted out. DYNAMIC COMBO was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, DYNAMIC COMBO was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of mucus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, DYNAMIC COMBO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SMART CHAMPION and GOODWOOD were sent for sampling.
