Racing Incident Report
UNIVERSAL FLAIR was a little slow to begin and shortly afterwards UNIVERSAL FLAIR and LIGHTING THE WORLD were checked when crowded for room between PERFECT SCORE which was taken out by SAMMY TREASURE and SUPER BEST which on jumping shifted in abruptly. Shortly after the start, COSMO STAR was bumped by DYNAMIC VISION which shifted in. Near the 1200 Metres, NAOMERIC TE SPECSO, which had its head on the side and was shifting in away from DYNAMIC VISION, was steadied away from the heels of SUPER BEST. Near the 1000 Metres, SUPER BEST was steadied when crowded for room between TEA FOR CHAMP which was being hard ridden to maintain its position and PERFECT SCORE which was proving difficult to settle and shifted in slightly when close to the heels of DYNAMIC VISION was also shifted in. No action was taken. In the middle stages, PERFECT SCORE hung out. For some distance after the 500 Metres, LIGHTING THE WORLD was unbalanced when awkwardly placed outside the heels of TEA FOR CHAMP. At the 300 Metres, TEA FOR CHAMP was checked away from the heels of SUPER BEST when racing tight between that horse and L'ENFANT which shifted out slightly. No action was taken. For some distance approaching and passing the 200 Metres, LIGHTING THE WORLD was held up and unable to obtain clear running when behind COSMO STAR and inside the heels of NAOMERIC TE SPECSO. Over about the final 100 Metres, CITY FORTUNE was unable to obtain clear running to the inside of LUCKY LUCKY which was giving ground. Over the concluding stages, LIGHTING THE WORLD raced close to the heels of NAOMERIC TE SPECSO and because of this was not ridden out to the line as it normally would be. Just prior to the winning post, TEA FOR CHAMP was checked away from the heels of COSMO STAR which was giving ground. When giving ground in the Straight, DYNAMIC VISION hung in. Throughout the race, COSMO STAR raced wide and without cover. R Fradd (LUCKY LUCKY) said it had been the intention to ride the horse in midfield or further forward if it began well. He said in recent times LUCKY LUCKY had not been beginning well and had been racing further back in the field. He said today LUCKY LUCKY began well from the outside barrier, he elected to go forward to clear runners to his inside and cross to the fence in the lead. He said he was able to do this without making too much use of LUCKY LUCKY. R Fradd's explanation was accepted. COSMO STAR was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, COSMO STAR was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No abnormalities were detected. PERFECT SCORE an NAOMERIC TE SPECSO were sent for sampling.
