Racing Incident Report
GREENMORE was slow to begin and shortly afterwards was checked when crowded for room between DYNAMIC FUN and SONGS OF PRAISE, both of which shifted ground. From a gate towards the outside, GOOD RECORD was immediately steadied and shifted across behind runners to a position close to the fence but with the rear. After passing the winning post the first time, SONGS OF PRAISE was steadied and shifted out to avoid the heels of WEALTHY TREASURE which was carried in slightly by EXPLOSIVE POWER (Apprentice M W Leung) which shifted in when not quite clear. Apprentice M W Leung was advised to exercise more care. After the 900 Metres, WEALTHY TREASURE, which was proving difficult to settle, raced close to the heels of EXPLOSIVE POWER and shifted out from behind that horse. Approaching the 400 Metres, ENTERTAINING and WEALTHY TREASURE raced tight for some distance. At the 200 Metres, ENTERTAINING, which was commencing to give ground, was momentarily steadied away from the heels of SILENT PARTNER which shifted in. After the 200 Metres, ENTERTAINING, which was giving ground, became unbalanced after being crowded for room between PERFETTO which shifted out slightly and LUCKSWELL which initially shifted in on its own accord and then was taken in further by SONGS OF PRAISE (Apprentice C K Tong) which shifted in. Apprentice C K Tong was advised in similar circumstances he should stop riding and straighten his mount sooner than he did on this occasion. A Marcus (ENTERTAINING) said he had been instructed to ride the horse in a forward position and ensure he did not lose touch with DYNAMIC FUN, the expected leader. He said he rode his mount in accordance with those instructions, however, due to the manner in which the early sections of the race were run he was of the opinion the horse's poor performance could be attributed to it being ridden too prominently and in the circumstances with the benefit of hindsight it would have been better to have ridden ENTERTAINING further back in the field. ENTERTAINING was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, ENTERTAINING was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of mucus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, ENTERTAINING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. EXPLOSIVE POWER was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, EXPLOSIVE POWER was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No significant findings were made. SILENT PARTNER and MAGIC HANDS were sent for sampling.
