Racing Incident Report

After arriving at the Start, SUPER BROSE was examined by the Veterianry Surgeon. The horse was trotted up and after the necessary consultations was considered suitable to race. On jumping, SMART WINNER stumbled, shifted out and bumped SOLID CONTACT. OUR CLASS and OLYMPIC EXPRESS were slow to begin. ANABATIK began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped CAPE OF GOOD HOPE. Near the 200 Metres, SMART WINNER was bumped by SOLID CONTACT which shifted in. Over the concluding stages, SILENT WITNESS shifted out abruptly. G Schofield (ANABATIK) said after beginning awkwardly, the horse did not muster its usual speed and did not travel well at any stage of the race. He said he had been riding ANABATIK in its work leading up to today's race and in his opinion this work was at least the equal of that prior to its last start win. He said he was unable to offer any explanation for the poor performance of ANABATIK today. ANABATIK was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, ANABATIK was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No significant findings were made. SILENT WITNESS and PLANET RULER were sent for sampling.
