Racing Incident Report

J Quinn's explanation for being late at the Parade Ring was accepted. XLERATE and STRATEGIC SELECT were slow to begin. DAVE'S BEST began awkwardly, then near the 1200 Metres got its head up when over-racing and close to the heels of RESOURCEFUL PRINCE. At the 1300 Metres, DOUBLE HAPPINESS, which was proving very difficult to settle, became unbalanced and got its head up on a number of occasions. At the 1100 Metres, ATHLETIC GOLD was steadied when crowded for room inside ZIETENGO BOY which momentarily was awkwardly placed close to the heels of FIGHTING MASCOT. After the 1000 Metres, when COMME D'HABITUDE went forward and shifted in to be three wide, DOUBLE HAPPINESS was left without cover and continued to prove difficult to settle until shifting in behind DAVE'S BEST at the 600 Metres. On straightening, FIGHTING MASCOT, which was awkwardly placed inside DAVE'S BEST and close to the heels of RESOURCEFUL PRINCE, clipped the heels of RESOURCEFUL PRINCE and blundered after RESOURCEFUL PRINCE was taken out slightly by MIGHTY HUGO. ZIETENGO BOY, which was following FIGHTING MASCOT, was hampered in consequence. After the 200 Metres, ZIETENGO BOY was steadied and shifted to the outside of DOUBLE HAPPINESS which shifted in slightly while hanging. Over the concluding stages, DESERT STORM was unable to obtain clear running between DIAMOND MOON and EXPLOSIVE POWER, both of which were giving ground. STRATEGIC SELECT was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, STRATEGIC SELECT was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No abnormalities were detected. MIGHTY HUGO and DAVE'S BEST were sent for sampling.
