Racing Incident Report
After arriving at the Start, F Coetzee (GOLDEN PROMISE) expressed concern to the Veterinary Surgeon over the horse's action during its preliminary. The horse was trotted up, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and after the necessary consultations was considered suitable to race. GRANDIOSO began awkwardly and got its head up. QUICK NEWS and MY CHIEF were slow to begin. At the 600 Metres, SNIPPETYIYEA was checked when momentarily crowded for room by DASHING CHAMPION (D Whyte) which after being crossed by MASTER YING got its head on the side and shifted in. Despite the shift from DASHING CHAMPION being a relatively small one, the Stewards in the circumstances considered it appropriate to severely reprimand D Whyte and tell him that in such occurrences he would be expected to do more to look after his fellow riders. In the early part of the Straight, AMBITION got its head up and was reluctant to be shifted to the outside of DASHING CHAMPION into clear running. In the Straight, MASTER YING hung in. DASHING CHAMPION and SIR OCTAVIUS were sent for sampling.
