Racing Incident Report

After arriving at the Start, Apprentice P H Lo expressed concern with the action of COMME D'HABITUDE. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and after the necessary consultations was considered suitable to race. WINNING BENNY began awkwardly, shifted in and brushed FLASH HARRY which in turn shifted in and caused crowding to ATHLETIC GOLD which as a result was steadied. PERFETTO, COMME D'HABITUDE and NATIVE LANGUAGE were slow to begin. In the early stages, KING OF FISH and EXCITING TIMES hung in. Also in the early stages, FLASH HARRY proved difficult to settle. After the 800 Metres, SEASONS KNACK shifted to the outside of KING OF FISH. This caused inconvenience to COMME D'HABITUDE and PARADIS, both of which were carried wider. After this, PARADIS was steadied and shifted in to a position close to the rail. Making the Home Turn, COMME D'HABITUDE hung out. At the 500 Metres, PARADIS was momentarily steadied when disappointed for running between PERFETTO and SEASONS KNACK, both of which shifted ground. For some distance after straightening, PERFETTO was held up and unable to obtain clear running behind FLASH HARRY and inside STRONGHEART. At the 250 Metres, STRONGHEART and KING OF FISH bumped. Throughout the race, from the outside barrier, BOWIN was obliged to race wide and without cover. WINNING BENNY was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, WINNING BENNY was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No significant findings were made. The performance of WINNING BENNY was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, WINNING BENNY will be required to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. PERFETTO, NATIVE LANGUAGE and ATHLETIC GOLD were sent for sampling.
