Racing Incident Report
While being transported to the course, TEA FOR CHAMP shifted its right front plate. After arriving at the course, this plate was reset. Prior to Race 1, TEA FOR CHAMP was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. After being boxed, EASY RECEIPT became fractious, then began awkwardly and lost ground. Before being allowed to race again, EASY RECEIPT will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. ENGINEERING WONDER was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, HAPPY ECLIPSE and OPTIC FIT were crowded for room between PRESENT TREASURE and MEDIPAL which shifted out abruptly. GOLFING PARTNERS, which was to be ridden in a rearward position tonight, on jumping was immediately steadied and taken back across behind runners to a position closer to the rail. At the 1000 Metres, HAPPY ECLIPSE was steadied to avoid the heels of PRESENT TREASURE which itself was steadied when crowded for room inside HORACE'S HORSE which was taken in slightly by SIGHT CHAMPION (A Marcus). A Marcus was advised to exercise more care. For some distance after the 600 Metres, PRESENT TREASURE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of MEDIPAL and on a number of occasions got its head up. Near the 200 Metres, PRESENT TREASURE was shifted to the outside of ASSET PLAY to go forward. After this, PRESENT TREASURE hung out and proved difficult to ride in the run to the line. After the 100 Metres, SIGHT CHAMPION was momentarily crowded for room on the inside of MEDIPAL. Throughout the race, OPTIC FIT hung out and near the 500 Metres was steadied away from the heels of ENGINEERING WONDER which shifted out to improve. ASSET PLAY was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. HORACE'S HORSE and MEDIPAL were sent for sampling. After the race, ASSET PLAY was examined by the Veterinary Officer. An endoscopic examination showed the horse to have significant blood in the trachea. Before being permitted to race again, ASSET PLAY will be required to pass an official veterinary examination.
