Racing Incident Report

Prior to entering the Parade Ring, BOND had an adjustment made to its right front plate. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. After being boxed, V-CAN became fractious and broke through. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and after the necessary consultations was considered suitable to race. Before being allowed to race again, V-CAN will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. BORN DRAGON, PORTER RICKS and EVER MORE were slow to begin. Making the turn at the 700 Metres, EVER MORE was steadied when crowded for room inside V-CAN which got its head on the side and shifted in away from JOLLY GAINS. Making the Home Turn, THE GRAND ROOF hung in and near the 500 Metres was steadied when close to the heels of JOLLY GAINS. G Schofield (PORTER RICKS) said the horse began only fairly as is usual and by the time it commenced to muster pace, runners from the outside had crossed it. He said because of this the horse was required to race in the kickback which it resented. PORTER RICKS was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, PORTER RICKS was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No significant findings were made. HOLY QUEST and JOLLY GAINS were sent for sampling.
