Racing Incident Report
After arriving at the Start, TRULY HAPPY, which had kicked the railings in the Parade Ring, was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon. The horse was trotted up and considered suitable to race. After being boxed, PERFECT VISION became fractious, reared and sat down behind. The horse was removed from the stall, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and after the necessary consultations was passed suitable to race. Also after being boxed, BELOVED PARTNER became fractious and broke open the front gates of its stall. GRACIOUS FELLOW was slow to begin. On jumping, WIN FORTUNE and LUCK AND FORTUNE bumped. UNITY began awkwardly. From a gate towards the outside, LEAD TO WIN was taken in across behind runners to a position closer to the rail. From the outside gate, TRULY THE BEST was obliged to race wide and without cover throughout. Making the turn out of the Straight on the first occasion, BELOVED PARTNER was crowded for room inside BAYVIEW LAD which itself got its head up when being steadied to avoid the heels of WIN FORTUNE (K C Tsang) which shifted in when not quite clear. In the circumstances, K C Tsang was severely reprimanded and advised to make sure he is properly clear before shifting ground. Making the first turn, AMERICAN DEVIL was checked when awkwardly placed close to the heels of FAIRY TALE and tight inside SCHOLARSHIP which itself was steadied and shifted in when crowded by LUCK AND FORTUNE which was carried in by UNITY (Apprentice P H Lo) which shifted in when not clear. When considering this incident, the Stewards took into account Apprentice Lo's relative inexperience and in the circumstances he was severely reprimanded and told he must at all times ensure he is clear of other runners before shifting ground. After being crowded on the first turn, LUCK AND FORTUNE was obliged to race wide and without cover, then in the Straight dropped out. Before being permitted to race again, LUCK AND FORTUNE will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. Near the 400 Metres, PERFECT VISION was tightened for room between LUCK AND FORTUNE and LEAD TO WIN which was shifting out in an endeavour to improve. For a short distance after straightening, LEAD TO WIN was held up and unable to obtain clear running between FAIRY TALE and AMERICAN DEVIL. Near the winning post, AMERICAN DEVIL was steadied away from the heels of POWERFUL which shifted in after being brushed by LEAD TO WIN. SCHOLARSHIP was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. A veterinary examination of SCHOLARSHIP after the race did not reveal any significant findings. WIN FORTUNE and UNITY were sent for sampling.
