Racing Incident Report
At the 2000 Metres, KONRAD THE GREAT was hampered and carried wider by XLERATE which when proving difficult to settle shifted to the outside of SNOWSTORM. At the 1800 Metres, DON SEBASTIAN brushed the running rail. On straightening, XLERATE was bumped by DON SEBASTIAN which shifted out in an endeavour to find clear running and go forward. After the 200 Metres, BLACK KNIGHT was crowded for room between KONRAD THE GREAT and NASA PEARL which shifted ground while hanging in. Over the concluding stages, DON SEBASTIAN was awkwardly placed inside the heels of XLERATE and therefore was not ridden out to the line as it normally would be. Whilst the Stewards considered the riding of W M Lai (ELEPHANT DANCE) in the run to the line did not affect the horse's finishing position and accordingly a breach of Rule 100(2) did not occur, they did however advise W M Lai he must ride all mounts out at least hands and heels to the end of the race whenever possible. KONRAD THE GREAT was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. Following the race, KONRAD THE GREAT was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No abnormalities were made. SNOWSTORM and XLERATE were sent for sampling.
