Racing Incident Report

The usual practice is when the start of a race is effected, a bell is sounded to signify the race is started. This bell is activated by the Starter pressing a button to release the gates. When the start of this race was effected, due to a malfunction, the bell did not sound immediately, but then did sound as the field was near the 800 Metres. Before the start of the next race, the starting mechanism was examined by the technicians positioned at the barriers and while they were not able to identify the reason for this malfunction, they did replace the electrical cabling to the starting mechanism which activates the bell. When the gates opened, ROUND THE WORLD reared and lost considerable ground. EXPLOSIVE POWER was slow to begin and then was further inconvenienced when ETERNAL FUN shifted in abruptly and bumped TABBRIS. EPIC EXPRESSION stood flat-footed and lost considerable ground at the start. CHOICE AND CHANCE was slow to begin and after the 1400 Metres became unbalanced when crowded for room inside EXULTATION. At the 600 Metres, EXULTATION got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SMART CHIEF. PERPETUAL PLEASURE, BLUE STITCH and TABBRIS were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted SMART CHIEF had sustained a laceration to its right hind heel and that BLUE STITCH had sustained a laceration to its right front cannon.
