Racing Incident Report

WOODSON was slow to begin. MONEY WINS began awkwardly, got its head up and as a consequence lost ground. At the 1400 Metres, CONNOISSEUR'S BET became unbalanced when awkwardly placed close to the heels of MODERN PROSPECT. Making the Home Turn, ISLAND WEST TREBLE hung out. After the 300 Metres, MODERN PROSPECT was steadied when crowded for room between COMME D'HABITUDE and TURBOJET which shifted out after being brushed by ARROGANCE. Over the concluding stages, COMME D'HABITUDE hung out. D Whyte (WAIALAE WIN) said he had not been issued with firm riding instructions on where he should ride the horse, however, he expected it would race in a rearward position. He said WAIALAE WIN began well and without having any pressure applied to it managed to travel in front of midfield, he therefore elected to maintain this position. He said he had to ride WAIALAE WIN along at about the 800 Metres, however, it was always anticipated this would be the case with the horse racing over 1650 Metres. ISLAND WEST TREBLE was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, ISLAND WEST TREBLE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No abnormalities were detected. WAIALAE WIN, ARROGANCE and HOLY QUEST were sent for sampling.
