Racing Incident Report
On leaving the Parade Ring, GOOD MOOD became fractious and hit a rail with its hindquarters. O Doleuze was dislodged. After arriving at the Start, GOOD MOOD was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and after the necessary consultations was considered suitable to race. GOOD LAD was slow to begin. WORK HARD, which was leaning against the outside of its stall, began awkwardly. From a wide barrier, WISDOM EXPRESS was obliged to race wide and without cover throughout. In the middle stages, GO GET THEM commenced to over-race and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of GOOD HEART. On the latter part of the Home Turn, GO GET THEM was awkwardly placed outside the heels of GOOD HEART which was endeavouring to shift out. At the 100 Metres, GOOD HEART, which was endeavouring to improve between SUPREME MOLLY and GOOD FRIENDS (K C Tsang), was steadied and shifted out when GOOD FRIENDS shifted in. GOOD HEART then endeavoured to improve on the outside of GOOD FRIENDS and to the inside of SIR OCTAVIUS and near the winning post was checked when disappointed for this run because of GOOD FRIENDS shifting out. K C Tsang was reprimanded and told in similar circumstances he would be expected to stop riding and straighten his mount. BLAZING BOB was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. F Coetzee (BLAZING BOB) reported his saddle shifted back on jumping. After the race, BLAZING BOB was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No abnormalities were detected. SIR OCTAVIUS and GOOD FRIENDS were sent for sampling. Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported GOOD MOOD was in a distressed condition and collapsed. He said the horse appeared to be recovering and would undergo further examination. Before GOOD MOOD can race again, it will be required to pass an official veterinary examination.
