Racing Incident Report

GLORIOUS LIGHT was slow to begin and shortly afterwards was steadied away from the heels of LUCKY LAD. On jumping, HAPPY CONTENDER blundered. Shortly after the start, SEASONS TREASURE was bumped by GALLANT HORSE which shifted out. At the 800 Metres, SPARKY got its head on the side, shifted in and caused crowding to HAPPY CONTENDER. Rounding the Home Turn, HAPPY CONTENDER hung in. For some distance after the 300 Metres, SEASONS TREASURE was held up behind GALLANT HORSE which was giving ground and inside SPRING FOUNTAIN. To obtain clear running at the 200 Metres, SEASONS TREASURE was steadied and shifted to the outside of SPRING FOUNTAIN. C Soumillon (LUCKY LAD) explained he had been instructed to ride the horse in a rearward position today as it had drawn a wide barrier and the trainer anticipated the race would be run only at a moderate pace. He said it was felt if he pushed forward in the early stages, he may be obliged to race wide. Mr J Moore, trainer of LUCKY LAD, confirmed the riding instructions issued to C Soumillon and the reasons for issuing those instructions. GEM OF INDIA and OPERA MAGIC were sent for sampling.
