Racing Incident Report
GOOD CHANCE, first Standby Declared Starter, was withdrawn on 14.1.03 on veterinary grounds (left hind infection). ENGINEERING WONDER, which was standing with its head turned to the right side, was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, BOXING DAY was crowded for room between SILLY BOY and BLAZING BOB. Also shortly after the start, MY DELIGHT was steadied when crowded for room by GOLDEN STRIDE which shifted in. Making the turn at the 1000 Metres, SHOGUN was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of GREAT DRAGON which was carried in by SUPER SUCCESS. After this, SHOGUN proved difficult to settle and at the 800 Metres shifted in when awkwardly placed close to the heels of GREAT DRAGON. This caused some inconvenience to BULLSHOT. Over the concluding stages, SHOGUN raced close to the heels of HORACE'S HORSE and as such was not ridden right to the post. ENGINEERING WONDER and HORACE'S HORSE were sent for sampling.
