Racing Incident Report
After being boxed, CLAWS OF THUNDER became fractious, reared and dislodged F Coetzee. CLAWS OF THUNDER was removed from its gate, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and after the necessary consultations was passed suitable to race. Before CLAWS OF THUNDER can race again, it will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. Also after being boxed, QUEEN'S GLORY became fractious, momentarily got its head up and attempted to break through the front gates of its stall. TURF LUCK and MY PRIZE were slow to begin. MAMOUSKA was a little slow to begin, then shifted out abruptly and bumped the hindquarters of CLAWS OF THUNDER. Just prior to straightening, TURF LUCK was steadied and crowded for room inside BROSE'S HONOR which shifted in when being hard ridden to hold its position inside the heels of PLEASANT SUCCESS which itself shifted in slightly. At the 200 Metres, PALETTE NATURAL shifted out and bumped APPLIED SUPREME. From about the 200 Metres until near the 100 Metres, TURF LUCK was held up and unable to improve when racing behind BLESSINGS' PARTNER and on the inside of MAMOUSKA. After the 100 Metres, TURF LUCK, which shifted to the outside of BLESSINGS' PARTNER in an attempt to find clear running, was able to do so for only a short distance and then in the concluding stages was again unable to find clear running behind PALETTE NATURAL and on the inside of APPLIED SUPREME. In the Straight, EL VIENTO hung in. The performances of QUEEN'S GLORY and MY PRIZE, which tailed off, were considered unacceptable. Before QUEEN'S GLORY and MY PRIZE can race again, it will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. QUEEN'S GLORY was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. PALETTE NATURAL, UNIVERSAL STAR and MAMOUSKA were sent for sampling. After the race, QUEEN'S GLORY and PALETTE NATURAL were examined by the Veterinary Officer. No significant findings were made. After the race, D Whyte (LUCKY KING) reported the horse was not striding out freely. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Officer who was unable to detect any abnormalities.
