Racing Incident Report
THUNDER STORM, which was restless after being boxed, jumped awkwardly. WOODSON was slowly away. In the early stages, DANRIVA was ridden along in an endeavour to go forward and get in, was unable to do so, as a consequence raced wide without any cover until after the 1200 Metres, when under continued hard riding went forward to race beside V-CAN. Over the concluding stages, DANRIVA weakened, about the 300 Metres when giving ground was steadied as it was crowded slightly between THE DUKE and INDUBITABLY BLISS. About the 600 Metres, C Soumillon adjusted his goggles, THUNDER STORM became momentarily unbalanced and shifted ground. When asked about the disappointing performance of TRICCOLO, W C Marwing said the horse's work had been good and it was anticipated by the stable TRICCOLO would be competitive in tonight's race. He said in the first part of the race TRICCOLO travelled satisfactorily, but from about the 600 Metres when put under pressure commenced to give ground and in the Straight dropped out. He was of the view the disappointing run could be attributed primarily to tonight's track conditions. DANRIVA was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, DANRIVA was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No abnormalities were detected. THE DUKE, THUNDER STORM and HELENE MOMENTUM were sent for sampling.
