Racing Incident Report
At about 11:40 am, the Club's Senior Racing Chemist, Dr T S M Wan, contacted Stipendiary Steward J A Stier and reported a pre-race sample he analysed indicated the presence of a prohibited substance. Mr Stier made contact with Dr Wan at about 12:10 pm after it was established the relevant sample was taken from WINMARK, a declared runner in this race. Dr Wan at this time advised Mr Stier that whilst he was not able to clearly identify the prohibited substance in the urine sample, it was in his opinion potentially positive for the presence of a prohibited substance. Mr S T Wong, trainer of WINMARK, was interviewed. He was adamant the horse had not been subjected to any treatment which would return a positive result. However, the Stewards in accordance with the powers they have under Rule 12(13) decided that as the sample provided by WINMARK was in the opinion of Dr Wan potentially positive, the horse should be withdrawn. Accordingly WINMARK was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. A further urine sample under post race conditions was taken from WINMARK. The matter is now adjourned to a date to be fixed. On jumping, MAGIC WIN and DIVINE FEELING bumped. After this, DIVINE FEELING shifted out abruptly, causing WINNING WAYS to strike the heels of DIVINE FEELING, be checked and get well back. The occurrence was accidental. MILLENNIUM LEGEND left the gates a little awkwardly and was then bumped on the shoulder by CITY FORTUNE which shifted in abruptly. This resulted in MILLENNIUM LEGEND being momentarily unbalanced. Running to the winning post the first time, TRULY HAPPY was steadied when momentarily crowded for room between DIVINE FEELING and MILLENNIUM LEGEND which was being ridden along to hold its position. About the 200 Metres, G Mossé had the whip knocked from his hand by the whip of E Saint-Martin (MAGIC WIN). DIVINE FEELING and CLEAR MASTER were sent for sampling.
