Racing Incident Report
CHIU CHOW HERO left the gates very awkwardly, shifted in and bumped WHATA FEELING. Just after the start, BRILLIANT ATTORNEY was checked when crowded between MAGIC TOUCH and JOYFUL MASTER which shifted in after being bumped by MAJOR BEE. The occurrence was accidental. Throughout the race, BACCHUS hung out badly, particularly on the Home Turn where it hung out very badly. Mr K W Lui, trainer of BACCHUS, was told if the horse performs similarly again, action may be taken against it. When asked about the disappointing performance of PALETTE NATURAL, S Dye said the horse went into the race well, had trialed impressively on the All Weather Track and the stable considered PALETTE NATURAL would be successful this evening. He said the horse left the gates well and in the early stages travelled satisfactorily although he was unable to get in. He said making the first turn he was inconvenienced by MAGIC TOUCH which was obliged to shift ground when BACCHUS hung out in front of it. He said after this PALETTE NATURAL was never comfortable and did not travel as kindly as he thought it would. He said on straightening he was on the hindquarters of WHATA FEELING and when shifted into the clear, he did anticipate PALETTE NATURAL would close off strongly, however, the horse did not quicken as he thought it would. He did conclude by saying an improvement could be expected from PALETTE NATURAL at its next run, particularly over more ground and if the horse were to race on the turf track. PALETTE NATURAL was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, PALETTE NATURAL was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No abnormalities were detected. When asked about the disappointing performance of VILLAGER, W C Marwing said he has not had much to do with the horse and this evening was offered the ride when W M Lai, the usual rider of VILLAGER, was suspended. He said from a draw towards the outside, VILLAGER left the gates cleanly, he rode along to go forward in an endeavour to lead as he had been instructed to do, could not clear MAJOR BEE, but VILLAGER did race satisfactorily outside that horse. He said in the Straight when put under pressure, VILLAGER immediately started to give ground and was overall very disappointing. He did conclude by saying VILLAGER was tonight having its first race start on the All Weather Track and he was not aware if the horse had trialed on the surface. VILLAGER was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, VILLAGER was examined. No abnormalities were detected. Before VILLAGER can race again, it will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. PROFIT DAY and WHATA FEELING were sent for sampling.
