Racing Incident Report

CHOICE AND CHANCE was withdrawn on 26.11.02 on veterinary grounds (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter ALBELA (R Fradd). Before CHOICE AND CHANCE can race again, it will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. ARRIBA-ARRIBA was slow to begin. DYNAMIC FUN began awkwardly, as a consequence lost ground and got back. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, DIAMOND AND GOLD was checked when crowded for room between MY HEART and STOIC (A Marcus) which when being ridden along to obtain a more forward position improved inside the heels of ALBELA which shifted in. A Marcus was advised he would be expected to ride with more regard for his fellow riders. At the 1300 Metres, MY HEART bumped the running rail. For some distance after the 1100 Metres, STOIC got its head on the side and hung in away from ALBELA. This cause some crowding to MY HEART. On the latter part of the Home Turn, SIXTY SECONDS and STOIC came together as STOIC shifted to the outside of ALBELA to obtain clear running. A Marcus was reprimanded and told in slightly different circumstances similar riding may result in him facing a serious charge. On straightening, ARRECTIS AURIBUS was momentarily held up for running between ALBELA and GOOD FRIENDS which commenced to give ground. After the 200 Metres, ARRIBA-ARRIBA was steadied and shifted out when disappointed for running between MY HEART and GOOD FRIENDS which was continuing to give ground. At the 100 Metres, STOIC was steadied when momentarily crowded for room between ALBELA and SIXTY SECONDS, both of which shifted ground. Over the concluding stages, GOOD FRIENDS dropped out quickly. Before being permitted to race again, GOOD FRIENDS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. DYNAMIC FUN was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, DYNAMIC FUN was examined. No abnormalities were detected. PACKING ANGEL and ARRECTIS AURIBUS were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Report (released on 28 Nov. 2002) :
It was today reported a post race endoscopic examination of DYNAMIC FUN showed moderate pharyngeal lymphoid hyperplasia (the horse equivalent of tonsillitis). This condition was noted earlier in the season and has improved considerably.
