Racing Incident Report
MY LOYAL FRIEND left the gates very awkwardly and was then checked when crowded between MR BEAUTIFUL and DANCING SOUND, both of which shifted some ground. MR PRESIDENT left the gates awkwardly with its head up, shifted out and bumped ALLEGRO. Just after the start, STRAIGHT SCOTCH was steadied when tightened between NAMJONG HEART and FORTUNE TYCOON which was taken out slightly by TELECOM PRINCE. About 100 Metres out, DANCING SOUND was checked when disappointed for running between GUSCOTT and MR PRESIDENT which shifted in slightly. After this, DANCING SOUND did not obtain clear running in the run to the line and was not ridden out in the normal fashion. K S Yu (MY LOYAL FRIEND) explained near the winning post the first time the horse became unbalanced and he thought it may have broken down. He said however after some time the action of MY LOYAL FRIEND seemed satisfactory and it continued in the race. The performance of MY LOYAL FRIEND was considered by the Stewards to be unacceptable. Before the horse will be allowed to race again, it must perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial around a bend and must pass an official veterinary examination. MY LOYAL FRIEND was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported the horse was lame in its left front leg. F Coetzee (FORTUNE TYCOON) said the horse had run well first up when fresh, following that run it was decided the horse would be kept fresh for tonight's race and as a consequence had not run for over a month. He said FORTUNE TYCOON travelled satisfactorily except for a short distance in the middle stages when it was inclined to pull. He did say after the 500 Metres FORTUNE TYCOON was bumped by GUSCOTT, after this the horse dropped the bit, did not finish the race off at all and in the Straight was very disappointing. He concluded by saying the horse may run over a shorter trip next start. ALLEGRO, GUSCOTT and MR PRESIDENT were sent for sampling.
