Racing Incident Report
IRON TYCOON, second Standby Declared Starter, was withdrawn on 23.9.02 on veterinary grounds (left fore tendonitis). Before IRON TYCOON can race again, it will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and must pass an official veterinary examination. Before being presented in the Parade Ring, COLLEGE TOWN had an adjustment made to its left front plate. EXPRESS LOT left the gates awkwardly, was then crowded for room between TALK OF THE TOWN and HOW FLUKE which came from the gates awkwardly with its head up and shifted in. TRULY HAPPY, which was moving its head about just as the gates opened, was slowly away. SUPER BOLD RACER jumped awkwardly and was further inconvenienced by DYNAMIC WINNINGS which on jumping shifted in. Just after the start, DYNAMIC WINNINGS was bumped by LUCKY SUPREME. Just after the 600 Metres, SUPER BOLD RACER (H K Yim), which was committed to a position inside HEART'S DESIRE, became unbalanced and was taken in as HEART'S DESIRE began to stop quickly. When shifting ground, SUPER BOLD RACER bumped CAVIAR ONE which in turn shifted ground. As a consequence of this, TALK OF THE TOWN struck the heels of that horse and nearly fell. Because of the circumstances, no direct action was taken, however, H K Yim was told his riding should show more regard for those around him than he did on this occasion. When TALK OF THE TOWN nearly fell at about the 600 Metres, inconvenience was caused to TRULY HAPPY which was following. About the 100 Metres, E Saint-Martin (HOW FLUKE) dropped his whip. In the Straight, CAVIAR ONE hung in. M Cahill (HEART'S DESIRE) explained he has ridden the horse numerous times in the past, at its last run which was over the same distance, the horse had drawn a good gate, he took up a position towards the front, but to do so had to ride with the whip. He said tonight from a difficult gate, he had been asked if possible to again go forward. He said accordingly he rode HEART'S DESIRE along, but it was not able to show the speed to clear runners inside him. He did take up a position three wide behind LUCKY SUPREME and hoped the field would steady turning out of the Straight the first time. Accordingly he shifted from behind LUCKY SUPREME, went forward in an endeavour to find a position beside DRAGON WIN. He said however DYNAMIC WINNINGS maintained its position beside DRAGON WIN, he could not clear it and get in, was obliged to race wide without cover and HEART'S DESIRE commenced to give ground a long way out. The explanations submitted by M Cahill were accepted. DRAGON WIN, DYNAMIC WINNINGS and EXPRESS LOT were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted CAVIAR ONE had lost its left hind plate.
