Racing Incident Report
JEUNE KING PRAWN was withdrawn on 31.8.02 on veterinary grounds (off fore capped elbow and infection) and replaced by Standby Declared Starter WINNING COUNTER (K H Ting). Before being allowed to race again, JEUNE KING PRAWN will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. It was established that H K Yim had weighed out to ride ASIA RISING at the allocated weight, but in doing so had included two saddles in his gear. This was discovered by the trainer when the horse was being prepared for the race. Because of this, the gear was returned to the scales and H K Yim reweighed. H K Yim was fined $5,000 for negligence at the scales [Rule 12(32)] which could have led to ASIA RISING carrying incorrect weight. ASIA RISING left the gates very awkwardly and threw its head in the air. PRIME WITNESS missed the start slightly. About the 1000 Metres, WINNING COUNTER, which was inclined to be pulling, became unbalanced when being steadied to avoid the heels of CLIFFHANGER (C Williams) which shifted in when not quite clear. C Williams was told he must exercise far more care. About the 600 Metres, SMART WINNER momentarily shifted in and brushed MY HONOUR which got its head on the side and hung in away from SMART WINNER. As a consequence of this, BEST OF THE BEST was momentarily crowded and became unbalanced. The occurrence was accidental. Near the 300 Metres, SMART WINNER shifted out to find running and go forward, in doing so brushed SOLID CONTACT. About the 100 Metres, ASIA RISING was steadied when disappointed for running between SOLID CONTACT and KENWOOD MELODY which shifted in away from SHAXI FORTUNE. In the run to the winning post, SHAXI FORTUNE shifted in abruptly. CHARMING CITY, PRIME WITNESS, SHAXI FORTUNE and SMART WINNER were sent for sampling.
